Financial Literacy continues to be a concern for Americans regardless of age or income level. However, the impact or effect is felt the greatest by those living in lower income and/or underserved communities. The desire of FinanciallyLit Kidz and FinanciallyLit 2020 is to direct ongoing education and programs (including follow-up and support) toward students and families in underserved communities regardless of their ability to pay or academic standing, online access, location or access to transportation.
“Results from (financial surveys) surveys evidence that most youth today venture out into the real world unprepared for the financial realities they will face. They lack the knowledge and confidence to make the most common financial decisions, which can lead to problems that snowball. Just a few mistakes early on can damage their credit, increase their debt load, and inhibit their ability to attain employment.” – Vince Shorb, CEO National Financial Educators Council. This information should be made available along with other learning opportunities; however, until that time it is vital education and necessary tools are made available in efficient and cost-effective methods in low income and underserved communities.
Fundraising is a vital part of what we do. While our target audience is clearly defined, speaking opportunities, programs and tools are available to anyone pursuing knowledge; however, sponsorship and donations are specifically allocated based on family income and/or location in an underserved/unbanked community.
If you would like to help us close the gap, submit a request for contact. Someone will respond and detail the numerous ways you can assist our organization in closing the gap.
